Individual Development Plan
Each year, employees collaborate with their supervisors to develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
The IDP acts as a personalized roadmap for aligning career goals with developmental needs and helps guide training and learning activities throughout the year.
Examiner Training
The OCC provides structures training paths for both pre-commissioned and commissioned examiners.
Pre-commissioned examiners participate in a formal training program that includes:
- Structured coursework
- On-the-job learning assignments
- A customized training plan developed in collaboration with managers and Continuing Education staff
The goal of this program is to prepare examiners for the Uniform Commission Exam (UCE)—the OCC's internal certification exam. A commission from the Comptroller of the Currency signifies that a National Bank Examiner is qualified to perform examinations of national banks and thrift institutions, their affiliates and bank service corporations. The Comptroller determines an examiner's qualifications based on the successful completion of the UCE.
Commissioned examiners and experienced hires have access to a wide range of training opportunities designed to enhance technical expertise and leadership capabilities. Training may be offered through:

- External training vendors
The OCC supports employees in earning and maintaining professional credentials by covering:
- Application and examination fees for selected certification programs
- License and renewal membership fees required by the accrediting organization to maintain an active certification or professional designation
